Only 0.007% of the planet’s water is available to fuel and feed its ~8 billion people. To impress on visitors the immense importance of this finite and precious resource, a massive suspended kinetic light and water feature was designed to illustrate this relationship. The installation symbolizes the vastness of the earth’s water as it slowly releases it, one drop at a time. This signifies the minute quantity of this precious resource that American Water is dedicated to protecting and supplying to its customers. The water lands on a large copper basin where it is collected and recycled back into the system.
Two display cases with touchscreens at the entrance of the space, and larger touchscreen displays at the rear of the space feature interactive explorations of the current and future technologies American Water is investing in as they develop the future of water sourcing, treatment, and delivery.
